ChemSpider is building a structure-centric community for chemists and presently attracts thousands of chemists a day who are searching for chemistry-related data. ChemSpider hosts well over a 100 different data sources and almost 20 million chemical structures. With integrations to Wikipedia, Open Access journals, online patent searches and a plethora of other services, ChemSpider holds a unique position in the domain of free access chemistry data. If you are a vendor of chemicals and supplies, chemistry related services or laboratory equipment you might be interested in exposing your company and materials to the ChemSpider audience. We offer a number of ways to do this.

Advertising is offered in various forms.

  1. Across the ChemSpider website – these advertisements will appear on a series of pages across ChemSpider. Based on the type of site-wide advertising these will either be rotated with other advertisers or locked on all pages.
  2. Compound-by-compound – for compound-based advertising your advert will show up associated with specific compound record(s) of your choosing. This is an ideal advertising choice for manufacturers of a particular material or trademarked product.

Chemical Vendors

Chemical vendors in particular are offered additional possibilities for advertising and services. These include:
  1. Advertising as listed above.
  2. Request Quote possibilities on each compound view where the vendors materials are listed. Emails requesting quotes for a particular material will be directed to the vendor from the ChemSpider website.
  3. Dedicated Vendor Website – a dedicated website displaying only the subset of the chemical vendors materials can be shown. This will include a dedicated graphical image representing the company’s branding, dedicated text regarding the company and the ability to request quotes directly from the vendor.

Adopt a Molecule for FREE

There are almost 20 million molecules on ChemSpider and not all will have adverts associated. It is possible that one or more of the molecules on the website has a special interest to you. Maybe you synthesized it. Maybe you have researched it. Maybe you just think it’s fun (like the Nanokid structure!). If you would like to adopt a molecule feel free to do so. Make it your own project to annotate and update with information about the molecule. Using ChemSpider’s abilities to link to URLs, publications and update with data and annotations make it your own. Register in ChemSpider today and Adopt a Molecule by clicking on the “Adopt This Molecule” button on the appropriate page (currently, while system is not automated, please send us email to info-at-chemspider-dot-com about your intention to adopt a molecule). It will then be your responsibility to take care of the molecule and nurture the associated information content with your molecule.
